Sign Up to Attend, Waterless Human Waste Solutions in the Wilderness: Ski Lodges and Huts
Join us on Tuesday, June 16th at 1:30pm PT / 4:30pm ET for the next installment of the Waterless Human Waste Solutions in the Wilderness webinar series.
We'll hear from Canadian Olympian Thomas Grandi of Talus Lodge (Canmore, Alberta), a remote backcountry lodge that sought to scale back on costly waste barrel fly-outs, and Andre Fortin of Tilly Jane A-Frame (Mount Hood National Forest, Oregon), a year-round Forest Service cabin serving up to 20 overnight guests in a high-use recreation area.
We’ll be talking about:
— Replacing a barrel fly-out toilet system with a urine-diverting system that decomposes waste on-site (waste reduction, cost impact)
— How the urine drainfield and conveyor in a urine-diverting toilet system perform in freezing conditions (one of the most requested topics from attendees)
— How high elevation and year-round use influence the toilet system selection and design process
This session will also include:
— A 20-minute live Q&A with questions submitted during the webinar and discussion of select attendee questions submitted in advance through the registration form
Pictured: Toilet Tech's Decompose toilet models installed at Talus Lodge. These conveyor toilets helped the lodge to reduce the waste volume they had to fly out and eliminated the messy nature of handling 200L full waste barrels.
